NOTES

​One of several species used for the production of sago by extracting carbohydrates from the pith of the trunk.  However, this process leads to the death of the cycad.  Of all the cycads, C. revoluta is the most popular in cultivation.

GEOGRAPHIC REGION

Native to southern Japan including the Ryukyu Islands

NATIVE HABITAT

This species grows in extensive colonies on hillsides and is often the dominant component of the vegetation.
