​Named for its broad leaflets, in Latin latus, means wide, folium, leaf. New leaves emerge bronze, red or chocolate brown, hardening off to light or bright green, are semiglossy, and grow to 2-4 feet long.

GEOGRAPHIC REGION

Endemic to Querétaro, Hidalgo and San Luis Potosí in Mexico

NATIVE HABITAT

Subtropical or tropical moist lowland oak forests in the cloud zone of the Sierra Madre Oriental, on steep limestone hillsides and canyons
