​Cycas thouarsii grows to become one of the largest cycads and probably the fastest-growing.  It can produce 2 flushes of new grow a year with up to 40 leaves at a time, each up to 3 metres long.  Cycas thouarsii may be the oldest living Cycad, surviving unchanged from the Mesozoic (100-190 million years ago)

GEOGRAPHIC REGION

Comoros Islands, Kenya, Madagascar, Mayotte, Mozambique, the Seychelles and Tanzania.

NATIVE HABITAT

Grows in open coastal forests
