​An attractive cycad which forms grey-green feather-shaped leaves.  The name purpusii, is for Carl Albert Purpus, a renowned plant collector in the early 1900s.

GEOGRAPHIC REGION

Endemic to a very small region in Mexico - Oaxaca, Puebla

NATIVE HABITAT

Dry, tropical deciduous forest, mostly in the shade of trees. Mostly they grow on the steep rocky slopes of deep gorges together with cacti and agaves around 3200 ft above sea level
