NOTES

This poorly known species from central America was described in 1884 from material collected in Southern Nicaragua.  The long, taililike, sharply pointed tip of each leaflet is a useful diagnostic feature that is unique in the genus.

GEOGRAPHIC REGION

Costa Rica, Nicaragua, and Panama

NATIVE HABITAT

Z. acuminata generally prefers understory situations in cloud forest. Plants are also found in low-elevation rain forest and seasonally dry tropical deciduous forest.
